I volunteer at a local arboretum and recently was asked to find a place to purchase commemorative, or memorial, plaques that we could offer to our patrons. The idea was to solicit donations to place plaques on the garden benches scattered throughout the grounds.
I thought surely I could just pop in to the local garden center and purchase them. But that wasn't the case. I found cheap plaques at the hardware store, and a few other places. But we needed something that was substantial enough to standout and of course hold up the weather.
I ended up searching online and found a place called National Engravers in Kent, England. They have a variety of personalised plaques and signs, including these heritage plaques. They were exactly what I was looking for, they are 100mm (4 inches) in diameter and accept up to five lines of text. They are made of a tough plastic and have mounting holes making it easy to attach to benches or other structures, and are available as a blue heritage plaque style, or green heritage plaque.
The engraving is included in the price so it was an easy matter to take a donation from a patron, take their personal message and order the plaques individually.
I also found these nice "Please Close the Gate" cast iron plaques at National Engravers. I swear they must have had us in mind. We have numerous gates dividing the gardens, so these signs are perfect. I purchased one of these cast iron Beware of Dog plaque for my own home. Very cool
Anyway, I thought I'd through these up on my blog for the next person searching for garden plaques, or memorial plaques. National Engravers made it easy.

Very nice! Big fan of the blog.
